I accidentally tried using my EasyDisk in Windows
98SE without installing the EasyDisk Driver first.
If you have already inserted the EasyDisk
before installing the Win 98 drivers your computer
has already seen new hardware but was unable to
identify the EasyDisk. You will need to perform
the procedure below.
a. From the control panel, open up your device
manager. In the list of devices look for every
reference to USB in the hardware list. You will
need to manually delete each and every instance
of USB from your list. You will see something
like USB Root Hub, USBIntel...(chipset), etc etc.
Delete Root Hub first then the rest. This will
erase all USB drivers previous installed in the
system.
b. Reboot your computer and Windows 98 will automatically
find all your USB ports again. Once this is done,
install the EasyDisk driver from your CD Rom or
from our web site.
c. Once the EasyDisk Driver is installed, you
will be able to insert the EasyDisk and it should
work fine.
I have several drives on my computer, when I install
my EasyDisk, nothing comes up. How do I fix this?
First enlarge "My Computer"
to full screen and refresh, or you can try your
EasyDisk on a different computer to see if it
works properly. If the EasyDisk does not work
on both computers, it could be bad. Please summit
the trouble ticket and obtain a RMA number for
replacement. If it works fine with the second
computer, there is possibility that other USB
devices in the first computer have conflicts with
EasyDisk. You would need to go to the control
panel, open up your device manager. In end of
the list is "Universal Serial Bus controllers"
and you should see devices like USB Root Hub,
USBIntel...(chipset), etc etc under it. Delete
Root Hub first then the rest, and the "Universal
Serial Bus controllers" will disappear after
that. This procedure will erase all USB drivers
previous installed in the system.
Reboot your computer and Windows will automatically
find all your USB ports again. Once this is done,
install the EasyDisk driver from your CD Rom or
from our website on Windows 98SE computers, or
just plug in EasyDisk on the systems with Windows
ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP OS.
Once the EasyDisk Driver is installed, EasyDisk
should work fine.
What is required to use EasyDisk and what OS supports
it?
The EasyDisk has a built in USB interface.
EasyDisk will work with USB 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0 ports.
Currently the EasyDisk will work with Windows
98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition,
Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux, and Max OS 9.0
or higher.
The EasyDisk will work between all these platforms.
EasyDisk currently does not have support for Windows
3.11, Windows 95, Windows NT or Windows CE.
How do I make my EasyDisk bootable?
Insert the driver CD which comes with
your EasyDisk, also plug in the EasyDisk. Explore
the driver CD, go to "Utility" folder,
double click the "UDReset" file, type
"Y", unplug EasyDisk, then plug it back
in. Go to the "Utility" folder again,
double click "Mformat", check "Quick
Format" and make sure the "Bootable"
box is checked. Format the drive. Unplug it, when
you plug it back in again, your EasyDisk should
be bootable. Please keep in mind that after this
process, all data that you have previously saved
on EasyDisk will be erased. Therefore, make sure
save your important files before you make your
EasyDisk bootable.
How do I determine what version of EasyDisk I
have?
Please look at the CD driver that comes
with your EasyDisk. On the bottom part of the
CD, if there is nothing printed other than CD
content, it's EasyDisk 1.0. For the EasyDisk 2.0
or 4.0, Ver:2.0 or Ver:4.0 is printed under CD
content.
I have installed my EasyDisk and my computer immediately
locks up. What do I do?
Usually this means the USB devices you
have previously installed on your PC have conflicts
with EasyDisk. You would need to go to the control
panel, open up your device manager. In end of
the list is "Universal Serial Bus controllers"
and you should see devices like USB Root Hub,
USBIntel...(chipset), etc etc under it. Delete
Root Hub first then the rest, and the "Universal
Serial Bus controllers" will disappear after
that. This procedure will erase all USB drivers
previous installed in the system.
Reboot your computer and Windows will automatically
find all your USB ports again. Once this is done,
install the EasyDisk driver from your CD Rom or
from our website on Windows 98SE computers, or
just plug in EasyDisk on the systems with Windows
ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP OS.
Once the EasyDisk Driver is installed, EasyDisk
should work fine.
You can always try your EasyDisk on a different
computer just to make sure it is a good drive.

you plug it back in again, a key icon "passed"
will appear when you access EasyDisk, double click
it and key in the default password "1111",
then you can start to read or write on EasyDisk.
You can change the password as you please, but
please make sure to memorize your new password.
For any reason if you forget your new password,
you have to repeat the above process to format
your EasyDisk again, and as a result all files
you have saved on EasyDisk previously will be
deleted completely.
How do I disable the Password Feature?
Insert the driver, which comes with your
EasyDisk, also plug in the EasyDisk. Double click
the "PASSID" logo and key in "1111"
default password or the new password if you have
changed it from "1111". Then explore

click the "UDReset" file, type "Y",
unplug EasyDisk, then plug it back in. Go to the
"Utility" again, double click "Mformat",
check "Quick Format" and make sure the
"Enable Security" box stays unchecked.
Format the drive. Unplug it, when you plug it
back in again, the password feature is disabled.
Please keep in mind that after this process, all
data that you have previously save on EasyDisk
will be erased. Therefore, make sure save your
important files before you disable the security
feature.
I have forgot my password, is there any way to
recover my data?

Can I use two EasyDisks at one time and copy data
between the two of them?
Yes, so long as the password feature
is disabled on both EasyDisks. Otherwise it is
recommended to use the EasyDisk one at a time
and copy the data from your computer. You will
not be able to copy data between the two if both
have password protection enable.
Does EasyDisk support Windows CE?
Currently EasyDisk does not support Windows
CE. We are developing the support to Win CE in
the future; please check www.easydisk.com for
news and updates.
When I insert my EasyDisk my computer tells me
new hardware has been found but I don't see any
new drive icon.
You may need to turn on "Auto Arrange"
in "My Computer" - Your icon is probably
under one of the other icons or at the bottom
of your page. Or you many need to refresh your
screen by using the F5 key or the refresh from
the "View" section of the rule bar.
I have Windows 98/SE and it does not see the EasyDisk?
You need to first confirm that your USB
ports are working correctly. You can check your
"system devices" from the "Control
Panel" and confirm that your USB ports are
working, if not you need to reference/contact
your motherboard or system manufacturer.
Now that you know your USB ports are working,
you FIRST need to install the EasyDisk driver
before using the EasyDisk. This can be found on
your installation diskette or can be downloaded
from www.easydisk.com. Once this is done, you
can reboot.
I accidentally erased data or directories from
my EasyDisk, can I restore them.
Your computer sees EasyDisk just like
any other hard drive - unless your computer is
configured to have these files moved to your recycle
bin, there is no way to restore deleted data.
When I insert my EasyDisk my computer tells me
"new hardware found" and the drive letter
appears, but when I try to access the EasyDisk
I am told the drive has been disconnected.
Insert the EasyDisk, and before you try
to access it, click on the "remove/unplug"
icon in the system tray, and remove the EasyDisk.
Once your computer says it is safe to remove the
EasyDisk, do so and then plug it back in. The
EasyDisk should function normally now.
